Kevin's Family Visits Merritt Island - June 28 thru July 4th

Kevin, his wife Amy and their girls (stepdaughters Rilee - 15 and Emma - 11, daughters Avalee - now 3, and Wynslee - 15 months) visit Florida

Editor note: I was unable to get the videos from this week to post to this blog site so I'm having to put them on Facebook. There are some cute ones of the kids. If you have Facebook I guess you'll have to "friend" me to see them? I don't use it except to see pictures Kelly has posted so I'm not sure what I'm doing. Nothing new there! LOL

Thursday, June 28th

Amy and Kevin left Griffin, GA around 7:00pm yesterday, driving through the night so the babies could sleep on the way. It made for a long, tiring night for Amy and Kevin. They arrived around 2:30am this morning.

Evidently it was a tiring night for Avalee and Wynslee too as they fell asleep in the car while the crew was shopping for a bathing suit for Rilee on our way to an early dinner at Coconuts Restaurant, Cocoa Beach, FL.

Car naps are the best!

Coconuts restaurant on the beach - enjoyed by all!

Back at the house, Wynslee was fascinated by Sunshine

Friday, June 29th

Today is Avalee’s birthday! She is three. Kelly and the boys (William – 9 and Jimmy – 8) drove up from Palm Bay to join us for a party. And what a party it was!

Presents galore – even a doll for Kevin! LOL

Saturday, June 30th

This morning we went to the beach at Jetty Park. It was a beautiful morning and everyone enjoyed riding the waves and playing in the sand. I was having so much fun with the little ones, I totally forgot to take pictures. Dang!

Sunday, July 1st

Kevin joined Tim and I this morning at The Great Outdoors Community Church in Titusville, FL.
The afternoon was spent enjoying the pool. Alas no pictures today either. Boy, I’m really falling down on the job as Grandma Blogger.

Monday, July 2nd

After a morning playing in the pool, we loaded up the crew and drove down to Palm Bay to visit with Kelly and her family at their home there. It was wonderful having the whole gang together; even Bryce was there!

Kelly got her workout for the day playing with the kids on the trampoline.

Avalee and Wynslee discovered what I think they thought was toy heaven in William and Jimmy’s bedroom. LOL IMG_0880.JPG

Tuesday, July 3rd

Another day blessed with Kevin and his family and Kelly and hers all enjoying time together.

Jungle Adventure

The first part of the day was spent at Jungle Adventures, a “real Florida” animal park in Christmas, FL (about a 45 minute drive from the house). This is a wonderful place to visit with young kids. (Us old kids enjoyed it immensely too, however. LOL)

There is a boardwalk through the natural Florida habitat where many Florida animals are on display, including huge alligators, Florida Panthers, Black Bears, Wolves, White-Tailed Deer, Tropical Birds, Reptiles, and other critters.

First stop – black bear.

Inside the mouth of a monster alligator!

Giant Turtles intrigue.

“Fishing” for baby alligators with poles and hotdogs. This was an activity enjoyed by all!

Huge alligators are all around.

Kelly caught the attention of a couple of wolves; she would sprint along the boardwalk and the wolf inside the fence would chase her. It was too funny!

These are possibly the sweetest pictures ever taken.

Kelly, Wynslee, and Kevin – a portrait.

Florida Panther

A guide provided hands-on opportunities with a baby alligator and other cool critters including a Cinnamon Skunk!

Little kids, big kids, everyone had the opportunity to hold the critters.

The guide also gives an impressive demonstration of hand feeding the 8 to 15 foot alligators! Avalee was VERY impressed. Each of the alligators has a name and they actually come when called. I’ve never heard of such a thing but I witnessed it with my own eyes.

And of course the visit wouldn’t be complete without a ride on the river boat that cruises along the Green Gator River which is teeming with more humongous alligators.

Back at the house the pool was calling. Kelly had so much fun playing with girls for a change. LOL

Avalee had a great time playing with Jimmy and William, pretend pushing them in the pool. LOL

We ended a busy day by going to Cape Canaveral for their annual fireworks display set off out over the Port. We lucked out getting a couple of parking spaces right across the street from a grassy park-like area to watch the fireworks. The fireworks were set off right across the canal from where we were seated. One might have (mistakenly) thought we knew what we were doing! LOL

Wednesday, July 4th

The last day of Kevin's visit was spent relaxing at home (recovering from all of yesterday's activities might be more accurate, LOL).

Amy and Avalee - such a sweet picture.

One last day to play in the pool.

Emma was doing a great job teaching little Wynslee to swim.

Amy and her two little bathing beauties.

Blowing Bubbles is always fun.

Avalee is concentrating so hard she doesn't notice the bubble on her lip. LOL

Bubbles are yummy! Not.

Leaving the pool and the bubbles to go out to dinner was not what Avalee wanted to do. A little pout time ensued.

Sunshine easily distracted Wynslee however.

We wrapped the week up with dinner at Molly’s where everyone tried the fried alligator – even the kids. As you can see, it was a little challenging to get it down. LOL

Sadly the week is over. Kevin and family are due to leave in the morning for the long drive back to Griffin, GA. We’ve had an awesome, blessed week. Many, many wonderful memories.
